Next Sunday - Khairullah Rahim

This exhibition is on from 6th October to 30th October 2016 over at Shophouse 5 by Chan Hampe Galleries.

This exhibition is about public spaces and its use by people especially on their day off on Sunday. It also references the Malay Pop song 'Memories about the banana leaf' and hence the banana and the tree features a lot in the works.

He presented 3 paintings. All excellent. But I wished he painted more balanced paintings. The painting 'Oh Dear II' was a balanced one and I wasn't surprised it sold.

He also showed some sculptural assemblages of found, used and new objects. Interesting. Nice works. Not pretty as in something you would hang to decorate your home with but nice works.

He also presented a few photographs with torn edges which was a nice touch. Nice photos in which he adjusted the lightness.

Oh Dear II

Points for collectors: Strong Buy Rating. Khairullah Rahim has the drive and the talent. Catch the exhibition which ends on the 30th October 2016. There will be an artist talk on 23rd October 2016; attend that if you can too.
