Khairullah is currently represented by Yavuz Gallery.
This show was brilliant. He showed his sculptures; think there were 5 of them and I think all but 1 are sold. He also showed a a towel rack, words on walls, 3 paintings and an installation of 8 objects.
Really love his sculptures. Definitely an improvement from his 'Next Sunday' show. His works at OH! Holland village were lovely, think one was included in this show and it's a build on from there. Superb works with lots of thought, detail, meaning and visually stunning (works with visual dynamism).
His paintings were flat. But that's his style, intentionally unbalanced and a bit unsettling compared to pretty balanced paintings (i.e. photos following rules of 1/3s and so on). He should do a pretty painting soon to show his skills.
The installations were nice, pity it was sold as a whole. Because if its components were sold individually I think all would have been sold out.
Artwork of the month awardee!
Points for collectors: Super Strong buy. Having won the Impart Art Award, a fairly new award backed by the Art Gods and prominent collectors, he has been thrust into the limelight and his works are being bought by mainstream collectors. However, he has kept a level head with regards to his prices. Which are very reasonable. There are younger spring chickens asking higher prices for their work, which in their first few shows are bought by uncles, aunties and friends and only do themselves harm. Art school needs to teach them the principle of supply and demand. If you don't sell out, don't aim for the sky. Not everyone is a Jane Lee or Ruben Pang.
