Prices of art works

Is it me or is it that the prices of contemporary art in Singapore are going up?

Usually the end of the year is a slow time with people going away and everyone prepping for art week next year. But there have been quite a few shows in November and December. (Was quite slow for the middle of the year). The prices of works have been going up. This is mainly for the mainstream galleries. Guess with the death of many galleries, the survivors get to enjoy the spoils of surviving by increasing the price of art.

Maybe we at 75grams aren't effectively factoring in inflation. But if the prices still continue to go up, other SEA artists willl definitely become even more attractive (currently it is already so, especially for Malaysian and Indonesia artists)  in comparison without having to sacrifice quality. And the secondary market doesn't even support the primary sales price except for Jane Lee and Ruben Pang, and ?David Chan(something suspicious with the auction prices, recently (last month) a piece at auction hammered at $143k for the 2mx2m piece, 7 year old piece)

Any way, I am way behind on my write ups. Don't think I can catch up till after art week. Thinking of heading up for Art Basel HK next  year too (more to go Disneyland and Ocean Park. LOL).

Thanks for your support and patience!
