Searching Operations - Ng Joon Kiat

This exhibition is currently on from 18th January to 6th April 2019 over at ADM gallery at NTU.

Ng Joon Kiat showed a spread of his works from the early to more recent works.

Nice progression of works from his monotonal geographic works. And definitely better then what he showed at FOST gallery earlier.

However, we think he has to think more about the depth push of the works and the colour palette. Currently, it feels like he is thinking very hard about what to do with the paint and the layers and the sculptural effect of the paint and hasn't really stepped back to think about the final outcome more basically. Hence his smaller pieces tend to look better, ie those in the filing drawers.

Points for collectors: Buy rating for Ng. He's considered important because he's one of the earlier ones who have pushed the use of paint as a media.

ALSO DUNNO WHY ADM GALLERY HAS A NO PHOTO POLICY. AND YOU SEE PICTURES OF THESE WORKS BY EVERYONE ON FB AND INSTAGRAM AND THE NET. CAN'T THINK OF ANY GALLERY/MUSEUM WHO DOESN'T ALLOW PICTURES. NO FLASH I UNDERSTAND. SO NO PICTURES HERE!
