Locals Only! 2018

This exhibition is held from 19th April to 3rd May 2018 over at Taksu Gallery at Holland Village.

This exhibition features Alpana Vij, Bryan Tan, Jamie Tan, Joanne Pang, JOE, Justin Lim, Keith Teo, Rifqi Amirul Rosli and Nicholas Ong.

Alpana Vij showed her abstract works. Was interesting but we saw her threading of leaves with gold string during the East Side Open Studios open house. Those were much more interesting. Should be more interesting when she shows those.

Bryan Tan showed more of his paper origami works. Interesting but nothing more interesting then what was shown previously.

Jamie Tan showed more of his colour field works of concentric rectangles. More asymmetrical than last year. But ok. Nice and pretty but ok.

Joanne Pang did ink on paper works. Interesting. Would be good to follow and see how she develops the works.

JOE was a collaboration of 2 artists. Did some semi-figurative works worked over with some abstract strokes to add expression to the works. Ok works. Keith Teo was better.

Justin Lim showed more of his reveries series. He won the Impart award and was given the blessing of Jackson See. However, he has produced too many of the Reverie series. Singapore has only so many galleries and we are seeing it all around. Angry.

Keith Teo did some semi-figurative works like Joe and worked over to give it more expression and dynamism. Put beside JOE's work, his works stand out more. He also showed some abstract works. They were good and he has good control of his colour palette.

Nicholas Ong showed abstract works. Was ok. But Keith was better.

Rifqi Amirul showed works that have been shown before. Some drawings, collages and prints. Think most were shown at Nanyi Sunyi.
